Born in New Jersey, USA, to displaced parents fleeing civil war, Juliana Yazbeck moved to post-war Lebanon at a very young age. Her mixed cultural background influences her music: lyrics in English and Arabic tackle gender issues, displacement, identity, racial inequality, war-and-peace, fusing Arabic aural traditions with soul and hiphop poetry.
Juliana is known for “stunning her audience into silence”, creating a contrast between the political nature of her lyrics and the transcendent humanness of connecting with a live audience.
Juliana Yazbeck is currently completing her debut album and is proudly supported by
PRS for Music Foundation.
